Yesterday, we decided to ignore 10″ of snow on the driveway and take the boys sledding with their friends Megan and Connor. What a blast!
It wasn’t long before all four kids piled onto the same sled. “See mom, all of us can fit!”

We’re putting the finishing touches on a bit of remodeling work in Jonathan’s room. As I was putting a final coat of paint on the wall the other day, I saw Jonathan holding his old ceiling fan and ‘explaining’ to Jake how it works.
“The electricity goes from the switch to this thing, and then the blades move.”
Pointing at the motor, I asked Jonathan if he knew how “this thing” works.
Jonathan: “I dunno.”
Dad: “Why don’t we take it apart and figure it out?”
Jonathan and Jake: “Yeah!”
We spent the next hour our so dissecting the old fan. They both did great with the screwdrivers and we eventually stripped it down to the motor housing. Unfortunately, it was crimped so tight we couldn’t crack it open to see the coil. They wanted to “blast it with this huge hammer, dad” but I decided to call it a day at that point.
Here are a few pics from the adventure.

We ‘rediscovered’ this gem when showing Renee’s new computer to my mom the other night.
That’s Lexi and Jonathan at his pre-school gradutation. Sure looks like he’s about to deliver a kiss, and it sure looks like they’re both a bit smitten with each other. Read the rest of this entry »

We took Jake to an open skate tonight. He was so excited to get on the ice so he could skate like his big brother!

He loved it (even though it totally killed our backs).

After about 15 minutes Jake was ready to get off the ice and go find the Zamboni!

Jake must have the touch. Two weekends ago he put Jonathan’s Scooby Doo pole in the water and caught a fish his first time! He was so excited. He caught 5 more after that. The down side is, now he thinks every time you put your pole in you catch a fish!

Jake went down a waterslide for the first time at the Animal Kingdom Lodge . He cracked up the whole way down. Once he hit the water he immediately said, “again!” I think he must have gone down the slide about 20 times. When it was time to dry off he cried the whole way out of the pool. He is such a daredevil, he’ll try anything!

Jakes was obsessed (and still is) with choo-choo trains and buses throughout our vacation. He didn’t care that we were going to the Magic Kingdom he was more excited about the bus ride we took to get there!

As a souvenir we bought him diecast replicas of the Disney buses that transport you to the parks, the cruises and to and from the airport. He literally fell asleep with them in his hands at night. Now that we are home he takes them everywhere with him.

Jake was beside himself when he saw Mater and Lightening McQueen! He checked them both out thoroughly. The Disney worker kept telling him to look into the headlight (there’s a camera placed there so the driver can see where he’s going). Every time Jake did, the driver revved the engine real loud!

The boys went to see the Easter bunny this week. Jake gave him a good once over. After he saw Jonathan climb up on his lap, he figured he most be okay and he climbed up too.

My niece, Kaylee found the newest commercial for Sports Time Ohio, an Ohio cable station that broadcasts the Indians baseball games along with other Ohio sports, on You Tube. She did a double take when she recognized a certain 5 year old boy getting Chief Wahoo painted on his cheek! Press play below and see if you can pick Jonathan out.

“Jake, someday I see our name in lights. Jonathan (first of course) and Jake.”
While visiting my sister Pam in Chicago this weekend we started looking at this picture and trying to come up with what we thought Jonathan was saying to Jake. I thought it would be fun to have everyone come up with their own caption. You can post it as a comment.
